Update 25.7.2016: Yuneec was recently released by Yuneec E-Go 2 which means that the original Yuneec E-Go is no longer in production. You can still buy the used Yuneec E-Go on Amazon.com
or you can choose the updated version of the Yuneec E-GO 2. If you want to know more about the boards of the 2. generation Yuneec, you can find our overview of the Yuneec E-Go 2 here.
The Yuneec E-GO, one of the cheapest electric skateboards on the market today, certainly takes its place thanks to its affordable price and technical features. This electric skateboard has a top speed of 13 mph and a range of 18 mph, which is one of the highest ranges of electric skateboards on the market today. Does it match the ads? Summary of assessment: The most affordable electric skateboard on the market, the Yuneec E-Go is ideal for those tired of walking and wanting to try out a new means of transport. Although this board with its raw power and speed will not disappoint people, it is a great electric skateboard supported by a company that provides excellent customer service.
Yuneec E-Go: Origin
The Yuneec E-Go electric skateboard is one of the boards that developed the concept of electric skateboard in today’s popular movement, and it remains one of the best electric skateboards of 2015.
Unlike many other companies that only produce electric skateboards, Yuneec’s electric skateboard has become a division of an international company that produces electric propulsion systems for aircraft. The engineer had the idea of applying the same electronic systems to skateboards, and Yuneec E-GO was born.
Board of Directors
The bridge of the Yuneec E-GO weighs only 13.9 pounds and consists of 8 layers of Canadian maple, of which one layer is painted orange for aesthetic reasons. While 8 layers can sound so much, the disc itself is very thin with barely perceptible drums. A passer-by might confuse it with a regular skateboard until you blow his brains out and let him climb the mountains.
The underside of the panel has a protective carbon fibre coating to strengthen the panel and protect it from scratching when rolled over rough surfaces.

To improve the rider’s grip on the board, a layer of tape with the Yuneec E-Go logo has been applied to the board, which is placed close to the front of the board for better visibility.
The battery pack is visible in the middle of the panel on the left. Yuneec says they have a patented flexible battery box that can be folded with the board. When I tested the plank, the deck was half stiff and didn’t bend as much as I bounced on the plank.
Unlike maps like Boosted Dual and Boosted Dual+, Yuneec E-Go is powered by a single 400W engine, as shown above. Although this reduces costs, Yuneec E-Go is limited to small hills and low top speeds. I also noticed that when braking at high speed the sign tends to pull slightly to the left because the side of the engine is rotating.
Yuneec E-Go: Remote control
A small wireless remote control, supplied with the card, is used to operate the card. It weighs less than 60 grams and takes up much less space than a mobile phone. The remote control has a throttle that can be pushed up and down to control the acceleration of the board.
With the remote control the control of the circuit board can be switched to one of two positions. There is a sports mode where the top speed is increased to 13 mph and the board accelerates quickly. There is also an environmental mode that has a wider range with a top speed of 8 miles per hour and slower acceleration.

Yuneec recommends that beginners start in eco mode when they are used to the board, and then switch to sports mode to advance to the next level.
The remote control has 3 main lights to indicate the battery status of the different components. A blue indicator shows the status of the wireless controller. A green indicator shows that the battery of the skateboard is still in use.
Each blink indicates that 25% of the battery charge remains. 4 blinks indicate that the battery is fully charged.
The remote control also has a red lamp. This indicator shows when the battery is ready or charging.
If you are not a fan of the wireless remote control, one of the main advantages of the Yuneec E-Go electric skateboard over similar boards is that you can control the board with your mobile phone via Bluetooth. Yuneec has launched an iPhone and Android application that takes over all the functions of the wireless remote control and puts them on your phone. It’s very convenient if you don’t want to carry a remote control with you while driving.
After going through the board all this time, I had a few notes. First of all, electric skateboards are great. Taking that little girl to the mountains made me feel incredible. Death by pushing! The top speed of this sign finally stopped almost exactly at 12.5 mph, which seemed a bit slow to me.

Range
The most important aspect of Yuneec E-Go that I wanted to test was the range. The claimed range of 18 miles is one of the longest currently available on the market. Unfortunately, it didn’t seem to match the excitement. After driving continuously for a week and being fully charged every night, I have covered an average of 12.3 miles, but a maximum of 13 miles. My whole trip was at top speed, so your results may vary.
Brakes
A motor ensures that the circuit board slightly tilts when braking hard.
One of the advantages of electric skateboards is the possibility to change gears via a remote or mobile application. Do you feel like you’re going too fast? Take it easy. Take it easy. Do you want to drive faster to overtake the cyclist? It’s no problem.
Braking is the only area where I was surprised by Yuneec E-Go. When I went down the hill and tried to brake, it didn’t seem to have much effect, and when I started to brake, the sign tilted slightly to the left. This is due to the fact that the electric skateboard is powered by a single motor, which is mounted on the left side.
My advice is not to go up hills where you wouldn’t feel safe on a normal longboard, because the braking effect on this board doesn’t diminish that much.
Invoicing
Charging the Yuneec E-Go takes 3-4 hours, which seemed like a long time. One option is to run the board during the day and charge it all night.

One of the advantages of the Yuneec E-Go over other electric skateboards is that it uses a standard mini-USB port for charging, the same type is normally used for charging phones (almost all phones except the iPhone). This means you can charge your remote control or even your mobile phone with a skateboard battery. If you ask me, it’s best if your phone’s dead.
Customer Service
To conclude this report, I have to say that I was very impressed with Yuneec’s customer service. For about two weeks my board had a small motor failure that happened by accident.
I contacted them immediately and when we got in touch they were always very quick and helpful in their reactions. I finally sent it to them for repair, and it came back as good as new within two and a half weeks.
