When my boyfriend first gave me his Penny Board, I was curious about it: How do we position ourselves on this subject? It’s so small! But in less than an hour with a small blackboard I learned it with the help of my friend.
Pennyboards are one of the best and most comfortable means of transport, but with their short length they can be difficult to use. Especially beginners often have problems riding pennyboards, but for all types of riders a small platform can be difficult to manage. Let’s look at the board of directors first.
The Penny Board is a classic short board of the famous brand Penny. There are two sizes: Original 22 penny and 27 penny nickels.
I highly recommend Penny Nickel, especially to newcomers. The difference in length of 5 inches may not seem that big, but when he stands on a shelf, he creates a world where there is a difference.
Penny Boards is one of the most convenient boards you can buy if you want to buy a travel board for work and return. Thanks to their small size, they fit perfectly in backpacks and go unnoticed during lessons.
As with all well-known trademarks, there are forgeries for much cheaper brands. The good news is that all those short signs go in the same direction.
There are 3 important aspects to fully master the short ride on the board: The position of the legs, the balance and, perhaps most importantly, how to brake. In what follows, I will describe every aspect in detail.
Foot position
The position of the legs is very important with these short boards because there is not much legroom. I was used to longboards myself and when I first stepped on Penny’s board, I had trouble finding an easy way to get both feet on the board.
Find your device
For people who have already skateboarded, you are welcome to continue. However, if you’ve never skateboarded or longboarded before, the first thing you have to do is find out where you stand. Stand on the board with one foot in front of the other, as you find natural.
If you place your left foot on the front of the board and your right foot on the back of the board, this is called a normal position. If you feel more comfortable with your right foot at the front of the board, you are in a so-called stupid position. There’s nothing wrong with that, it’s just a personal preference.
Place your legs
Compared to a normal longboard, where there is plenty of legroom, you only have 22 or 27 inches on the Penny Board. That’s why the exact position in which you put your feet is very important.
When pushing you always want to place the front leg above the board bolt or at least just below the two front bolts. It gives you a fixed position when you start moving your rear leg.
The position of the rear foot is not as important as the position that does most of the pushing and braking. You can just place it perpendicular to the shelf if you want to relax or just go on a cruise.
Balance and motion
The key to controlling a single wire board is Balance. Rewrite user’s words Reddit,fruit_shoot:
Penny Boarding is like a scooter knife on one leg, so your balance is crucial!
Is your balance not right? Don’t worry, there are a few variations that will help you improve and control your driving.
Everything on these boards reaches the front leg. To help you maintain your balance, you should always bend your knee a little more to put more weight on the board. The front leg has the shape of an inverted L, , similar to the position in the figure below. Even if I don’t put Penny Dosku in this picture, the position remains the same.
Thanks to my own experience and negotiations with other riders, balance is the hardest part of mastering the Penny Board. If you have trouble balancing, I suggest that you start with a flat surface and practice moving and hanging on the board with one foot.
If you feel comfortable throwing your leg overboard, try to bring it back on board as soon as you reach a lower speed. To make room, it may be necessary to put your front leg in a more horizontal position, which is perfectly normal. In fact, it will help you keep the carvings on the painting under control.
They’re on their way. So how can we stop?
Like everything that moves, you have to learn to stop the second you move. Stopping the short board is very simple and there are 2 main methods used.
Foot brake
Foot brakes are the best way to slow down on the Penny Board. Remove a foot with the same movement you use to push and move the board and simply pull the sole of the shoe to the curb.
Get your shoes on the floor! This ensures an even deceleration and does not let you fall off the board.
Jumps
Due to the exceptional durability of the pennyboards, there is another possibility of delay. If you ever feel like your board is rocking, jump off and keep it rocking! You don’t have to worry about damaging the sign, because it is made of hard plastic.
But if you do, you must still be afraid of getting hurt! Please note that slot plates are not designed for high speeds and always make sure you feel comfortable at lower speeds before attempting higher speeds.
How to become
There are two ways to activate the Penny Board: by moving the weight and by using the kicktail at the end of the board. This makes weight transfer easier for beginners, but if you want to make fast and tight turns, a cocktail is the best option.
Note:If you have difficulty spinning or feel that your board is not spinning fast enough, try loosening the tabs on the board. There’s a main nut that clamps the trucks, and if you loosen it, you can turn faster.
The weight transfer for turning is exactly what it looks like. Just put more weight in the direction you want to go. You can turn to the right by pressing harder on the board. To go to the left, lean back a little and keep your balance on the board. The balance within the Penny Board is also decisive here!
Use for cocktails
A shovel is a little more difficult than a simple weight shift. When you turn around, put your rear foot on the back of the moneyboard. Gently press the rear so that the front wheels come off the asphalt and then just turn in a new direction.
I strongly advise you not to try the Kikturns until you’re in the stop position. This not only makes learning safer, but also much easier for beginners.
